Liver fibrosis is REVERSIBLE in humans when cause removed. Hepatic stellate cells = lung myofibroblasts. Same TGF-β/PDGF/Hedgehog pathways. Key insight: liver achieves reversal through matrix metalloproteinase activation + stellate cell apoptosis. Apply MMP activation strategy to lung.
