Researchers used artificial intelligence to test thousands of drug combinations, and found one mix that might help preserve lung function better than what we have today.
FVC = how much air your lungs can push out. Higher % = healthier lungs. A typical IPF patient starts around 50โ60%.
This is a computer model result โ not a prescription. Always talk to your doctor before changing anything.
This week researchers tested how computers can help find better drug combinations for IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis โ lung scarring that gets worse over time). They looked at over 8,000 studies and 1,955 clinical trials to understand what might work.
The AI found a five-drug combination that kept lung capacity at 99.7% โ which means nearly perfect breathing function in the test. The drugs work on different parts of the scarring process, attacking the problem from multiple angles instead of just one.
Ask your doctor: "Are there any upcoming trials testing combination therapies, and would my case be a good fit for one?"
